What IS a Spray Tan, Really?

• Contrary to popular belief, spray tans aren’t like “paint” for your skin. In fact, the solution works by interacting with the natural proteins in your skin—developing into that golden glow we all crave.  Pretty cool, right?  But here's the catch: any product that sits between your skin and the spray can block this reaction—leading to patchy or uneven results. Sunless Prep Tips for a Flawless Tan

• 1. Skip Salt or Sugar Scrubs on Tan Day
  While exfoliating is awesome, salt/sugar scrubs are usually oil-based—and oil is your glow’s worst enemy.  Do your exfoliating the day before instead.​

• 2. Avoid Lotion, Makeup, or Perfume Before Your Appointment:  These create a barrier that keeps the tanning solution from absorbing evenly. Clean, product-free skin is best.​                                                                

• 3. Shaving? Timing Matters.                                   Yes, shave before your spray tan—but try to do it the day before (not the day of) to avoid skin sensitivity or streaks.                      ​

• 4. Best Course of Action: Come Fresh!  Whenever possible, arrive freshly showered with clean, product-free skin.
